It is touted as one of the largest parades in the country. It is set to begin at 10:00 AM today along Centre Avenue and continue through downtown before ending here at the United Steelworkers building.  Other prominent Democrats, including Senate candidate John Fetterman and gubernatorial candidate Josh Shapiro, are planning to attend the labor parade, though it is not clear whether they will appear jointly with President Joe Biden, in part because of the uncertainty surrounding his plans. So far, the White House has only announced that the president will be in Milwaukee and Pittsburgh on Labor Day. The head of Milwaukee's labor council told us that the president will visit Milwaukee first and then Pittsburgh this afternoon. Pittsburgh’s Labor Day parade is among the nation’s largest and oldest, but it is not clear that President Biden will attend the march itself. Media reports tell us that the schedule is in flux. However, Biden is expected to speak at a 2022 labor rally in Pittsburgh, possibly with the steelworkers. Instead of marching in a wide-open parade as he has done in the past, An official has told us: The parade is so big and the route so crowded that I can see where security issues would really hamper that.
