Today, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to the Midlands. She is visiting South Carolina State University. This comes less than one year after President Joe Biden spoke to the school's fall 2021. According to the university, it welcomed its largest freshman class in 15 years this fall. Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to speak about the importance of voting and other topics affecting young people. As HBCU alums, students are hoping VP Kamala Harris will acknowledge this personal connection to the student body. The full convocation will be held at the Smith Hammond Middleton Memorial Center at 1pm for Street Squad Orangeburg. The former president, Barack, and first lady Michele will be hosted by President Joe Biden and FLOTUS Jill Biden at an alternating ceremony in the White House East Room. The presidential portrait unveiling is a historical White House event in the United States of America.  What's significant about these ceremonies is that there is a long-standing tradition where the current president hosts the immediate past president to unveil their official portrait.
