Donald Trump Kicks Off 2024 Presidential Campaign with Rally in Texas

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, former President Donald J. Trump held his first campaign rally for the 2024 Presidential campaign in Waco, Texas. Speaking at the Waco Regional Airport, Trump addressed a crowd estimated to be over 20,000 people. The event was marked by controversy as the Star Spangled Banner was sung by J6 prisoners, and Trump faced an ongoing federal investigation and a possible indictment in New York.

Despite these challenges, Trump's rally drew significant support from the crowd, which included people from all over Texas who were eager to hear his message. Trump was quick to note that Texas is "Trump Country" after electing 37 Trump-endorsed candidates and recent polling among Texas primary voters.

The former president also held a rally in Iowa earlier that day, where he spoke about his America First Education Policy in Davenport. However, it was the Waco rally that garnered the most attention, as it was the first official campaign event of the 2024 election cycle.

The event was a political spectacle, with several high-profile Republicans attending and delivering speeches, including Representative Matt Gaetz, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, and many more. Gaetz called on fellow Republicans Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz to stand with MAGA and endorse Donald Trump for President, which prompted a standing ovation from the crowd.

  3. The crowd was much, much smaller than 20,000. Look at photos of the seating arrangement at https://wacotrib.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/trump-draws-thousands-to-waco-rally-sticks-with-familiar-themes/article_1ec36070-cb6f-11ed-9dc9-5739d75d987e.html. Rafters were built behind and to the sides of the pdium to give the illusion of a large crowd, but the seating in front was just tables and chairs. I doubt that 1000 people could fit in the space, at most.

    1. Not one snapshot shown to view the overall crowd size. This is one hint of less than expected numbers. Every photographer and videographer usually snapshot or pan a perspective view like seen in any rock concert. None seen in that link, possibly revealing low numbers of attendance.
