President Joe Biden in Philadelphia tonight to deliver a prime-time address on the Continued Battle for the Soul of the Nation.

Pennsylvania is expected to be a battleground state this November. The president will make several visits to the commonwealth over the next week. And we now know that President Biden will deliver a prime-time address right here in Philadelphia today.

According to the White House, the president's prime-time speech Thursday will be on what the president says is the ongoing battle for the soul of the nation. Fittingly, he will deliver the speech in front of the building where America and American democracy were founded nearly 250 years ago.

Although the speech was not delivered by the White House, President Biden has previously used the term "soul of the nation" to describe the fight to defend democracy against what he calls extreme opponents.

A Democratic fundraiser in Maryland last week. The president denounced former president Donald Trump's philosophy as semi-fascism, drawing heavy criticism from Republicans in Congress. Before the president can clarify those comments here in Philadelphia, he already spoke in Wilkes-Barre yesterday about his agenda to address gun violence.

Specifically, the president is policing and banning assault weapons nationwide. When it comes to banning assault weapons, a majority of Americans support it while the NRA opposes it, so we will hear from the president about the importance of protecting our communities.
