Biden is turning up the rhetoric aimed at Republicans and gearing up for a prime-time address this week. As Republicans criticize president Joe Biden for avoiding issues that they believe are most important to Americans, such as inflation and immigration.

President Joe Biden is back on the campaign trail in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, as part of a new push to fire officials just weeks before the midterm elections, which will determine who controls Congress and the fate of his agenda for the next two years.

Biden will make a stop in Wilkes-Barre, the heart of Luzerne County, which has shifted dramatically to Republicans and Donald Trump over the past four presidential elections.

Trump plans to stop in the same swing city this coming Saturday. Today is Biden's first of three stops in the state on Thursday. He will rally supporters in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence. The speech bill doesn't address, quote, the soul of the nation as Biden picks a follower of former President Trump as a threat to democracy.

It all comes as the race and the rhetoric are reaching a boiling point. As Democrats face a slew of Trump-backed candidates in tight races across the country, Republicans are capitalizing on issues plaguing Biden's presidency, such as inflation, immigration, and crime. And if they take back the House in November, GOP members are already making plans to impeach President Biden.

The dueling Wilkes-Barre speeches were just days apart from each other. It's also the first time we've heard from former President Donald Trump publicly since the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago estate.
